The Department of Social Work started its work as a postgraduate department (MSW) in August 2015. It is a highly job oriented co-ed regular course affiliated to Vidyasagar University which at present is offering an intake capacity of 43 students (per year).

1. To utilise social work education in all areas.
2. Students can secure a place in the professional field while studying social work.

Course outcome:
1. Enable students to apply social work theories and methods in practise with individuals, families and groups.
2. Students will be able to apply the values and ethics of social work practise with marginalised and vulnerable groups in society.
3 Students acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities to work with the community, people and society.
4. Students develop knowledge of many policies, programmes, constitutions and laws for working with people and the community
5. Students develop their qualities based on humanitarian and problem-solving ground.
6. Students are offered career opportunities in a variety of fields.
7. They can work as administrators/managers in corporations, the development sector, human resources, public service, foundations, policy analysts, etc.

1. The Department of Social Work organises one-day orientation programmes in various reputed NGOs.
2. The Social Work Department celebrates important days and events like Women’s Day, World AIDS Day, Basanta Utsav etc.
4. The Department of Social Work organises special lectures with faculty members from various reputed universities.
5. The department organises class seminars, debates etc. from time to time.
