About the College

Mahishadal Girls' College

Founded 1st Aug, 1969 Vidyasagar University NAAC 'B' Grade

The first women's college in Purba Medinipur district, Mahishadal Girls' College was founded through the vision of local benefactors including Late Dr. Satyendranath Bhunia, Late Rabindranath Singha, Late Dr. Haridas Sarkar and Late Gopal Chandra Mondal. From its earliest days at Rathtala to its present Rangibasan campus since 2003, the College has grown into a diverse centre for UG, PG and vocational study — NAAC accredited with 'B' Grade and known for its academic results, discipline and campus life.

Mahishadal Girls' College has been a pioneering institution in imparting quality education to its pupils. Since 1969 till date, the College has been fostering an intellectual spirit among its students through various educational activities, such as seminars, workshops, and lecture demonstrations.

Various departments of the College have been arranging State, National and International level academic programs all the year round.

Lecture series on the 125th Birth Anniversary of Bharatkeshari Shyama Prasad Mukhopadhyay was organised by the College, where speakers from all sections of society participated and threw light on the life of the eminent leader.

State level Spoken Sanskrit workshop was organised by the Department of Sanskrit.

ICPR sponsored National Seminar was organized by the Department of Philosophy as part of the celebration of Indian Philosopher's Day, on the topic ‘Indian Philosophy and Modern Science: Contribution of Indian Philosophers’.

A one-day Multidisciplinary International Seminar on Trends & Prospects of Geospatial Technology Research & Employment was organized by the Department of Geography in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Mahishadal Girls' College.

A one-day Multi-disciplinary National Seminar was organised by the Department of Geography in collaboration with Haldia Government College on ‘Research Methodology and Professional Ethics for Researchers’.

An International Seminar was organised by the Dept. of Master of Social Work (MSW) on ‘Contemporary Issues in Social Development and the Role of Corporate Social Responsibility’.
